Lithuanian Legends
Lithuanian legends live not only in books. They are told near hillforts, lakes, old castles, ancient stones and the Baltic coast. In one story we meet the Iron Wolf, in another – the Basilisk, Puntukas, Jūratė and Kastytis, or Eglė the Queen of Serpents. These stories have travelled by word of mouth for centuries, and today they can become an original theme for a gift with a story./
The “Lithuanian Legends” illustration cycle was created in 2012 as our original idea for a series of sweet gifts inspired by old Lithuanian legends. The idea was brought to life by artist Agnė Indrė Každailytė (1975–2015), whose distinctive creative voice left a vivid and recognisable trace.
Her work is characterised by a lightly ironic manner, attention to detail, expressive characters and unexpected turns of the story. Each legend was drawn as a separate visual narrative, where folklore, humour and imagination meet. The illustrations are full of small figures, moods and narrative clues, so they work not only as decoration, but also as small independent stories.
The original idea behind the collection was a map of Lithuanian legends. Since Agnė Indrė Každailytė’s drawings rely on many fine details, characters and situations, each legend was first created separately. Later, these individual stories were combined into one map of Lithuanian legends, showing a unique geography of stories: from Vilnius and Trakai to Anykščiai, Samogitia, Merkinė, Kaunas and the seaside.
This is how one map grew into a full collection. The 20-piece chocolate mosaic presents the complete map of Lithuanian legends, while the individual 4×4, 3×3 and 4-piece chocolate sets allow you to choose one specific legend. This is especially convenient when a gift needs to be connected with a city, a region, an event theme, an educational activity, a company message or a business gift concept.
This gift series is suitable when you are looking for more than just a Lithuanian souvenir. It offers a clear story. The sets can be used as business gifts, conference gifts, client welcome gifts, partner gifts, quiz prizes, educational souvenirs, cultural event gifts, or thematic products for museums and bookshops.
It is a gift with a story in the most direct sense. Each set has not only a visual impression, but also a narrative that can extend the communication of a company, event, project or place. The legend becomes not just a decorative motif, but meaningful content within the gift.
The gifts are made to order. The packaging can include a company logo, event name, greeting or other individual information. When needed, a logo or message can be placed subtly, while preserving the mood of the original illustration and the legend itself.
Legends in the collection:
- Gediminas’ Dream – the prophecy of the Iron Wolf and the founding story of Vilnius.
- The Legend of Trakai Island – the mysterious high priest hidden in the depths of Lake Galvė.
- Puntukas Stone – a giant stone dropped by evil spirits frightened by the thunder god Perkūnas.
- The Hill of Crosses – a legend of faith, hope and miraculous healing.
- The Vilnius Basilisk – a creature living in the underground passages, defeated by its own gaze.
- Šatrija Hill – a place of witches’ gatherings and old Samogitian tales.
- Ginučiai Watermill – a devil who turned into a calf and settled near the mill.
- Merkinė – a king’s dream about a future great city.
- Seaside Legends – the stories of Neringa, Jūratė and Kastytis.
- Eglė the Queen of Serpents – one of the best-known Lithuanian mythological stories.
- Kaunas Castle – legends about Palemonas and the origins of Kaunas.
- The Legend of the Sleeping Warriors – the defenders of Kaunas waiting beneath the castle.
Each legend tells a different story of Lithuania. Together they form an original collection in which old tales move onto chocolate packaging and become gifts with a story in the most direct sense.
This collection is also a respectful remembrance of Agnė Indrė Každailytė’s creative work. Her characters continue to tell Lithuanian legends today, now in a new and sweet format.
